Today's journey along the Appalachian Trail was a rocky affair, quite literally! It's those days where you just have to keep going, one step at a time, and embrace the grind. But oh, the satisfaction when you reach the end and realize you're that much closer to your goal. And what a treat to hike into Delaware Water Gap, knowing we're almost out of Pennsylvania!
One of the joys of this trail is the unique accommodations and experiences it offers. We're incredibly grateful for the donation-based hostel run by the local church. It's a wonderful initiative, and we're lucky to have arrived on the last hiker feed day of the season. The spread was incredible, from KFC to homemade ice cream, and it truly felt like a feast after a long day's hike.
But the highlight of the day was undoubtedly our first jazz club experience. The oldest continuously operated jazz club in the country, no less! It's these unexpected gems that make thru-hiking so special. Sharing this experience with fellow hikers CBS and RatPack made it even more enjoyable.
Reflecting on my 100th day on the trail, I can't help but feel grateful for the opportunities this journey has afforded me. It's not just about the miles and the scenery; it's about the people, the culture, and the unique insights one gains. Personally, I think it's these unexpected encounters and experiences that truly enrich our lives and broaden our perspectives.
As we continue our journey, I'm excited to see what other surprises the trail has in store. It's a constant reminder that life is full of unexpected joys and that sometimes, the best experiences are the ones we never planned for.
